Small Office
Ladies and gentlemen, it's evident that the most popular maps in Blockland have interiors. It is even more evident that the ones with interiors the size of Bedroom or Kitchen are more popular. Take Emily's "Japanese Bedroom," Ostinyo's "Bathroom," and Wedge's "Under Construction" for instance. These three are splendidly fun maps. I've decided that if I want to become a respected mapper and be placed among the ranks of Ostinyo, Aphtonites, GSF Ghost, Wedge, and all the great mappers, there is one thing I must do: create a map with a large interior. I give you all my brainchild--Small Office.
Small Office is a room with many fun things to do. You can build stuff inside a dresser, hang around by the computer, get down to your roots by the potted plant--the activities go on! The map features some moderate secrets, but don't expect to be blown away. All the textures (except for the computer screen and keyboard) are default, having either been taken from Bedroom or Kitchen.
PRE-RELEASE SCREENSHOTS:
Computer, desk, keyboard, chair, and pot (plant will be added in mission editor).

Dresser (handles will be added soon, the bottom drawer is enterable, the top drawer is enterable through a staircase, books will be added to shelves).

NOTE: I'm trying a very successful technique where you create the interior from the ground up, allowing you to add details before adding walls. This way you don't have to create a CSG Hollowed box and work with annoying vision blockers.

(The black dot in the middle of the room is a blockhead .dts)
Anyway, the interior is pretty much done. Now I can add a door, window, the signature "We can do it!" poster, walls, roof, and I'm done. Those shouldn't take very long at all.

I could easily make a map like GSF Paradise if I wanted to, but it would take a while.
Also, interior is 99% done.

I'll either release it tomorrow (I'm going on a month-long vacation on Saturday), or in a month.
Unfortunately, I'm thinking it'll be a month, as I would definitely need at least one or two testers, do terrain, make sure the .mis file works correctly, package it, etc.

Re: Small Office
The computer monitor is unreasonably small and it's 'neck' is too long, the table has excessive width, the legs of the table and drawer are too thick.
However if you are aiming for simplicity then knock yourself out

Re: Small Office
So I guess so does Bedroom, since all I did was replace the Bedroom interior with this one in the map.Cookieman wrote:Its an alright map but it needs something to spice up the place...
