Wiki wrote:VVVVVV is a retro-styled puzzle platformer game by Terry Cavanagh. Its name is pronounced simply "V", as five of the six Vs in the name are silent. It was built using Adobe Flash, and is available for Mac OS or Windows. A Linux version was created, and released with the Humble Indie Bundle 3 - July 2011. (It and had been on hold because of difficulties with Flash support in that operating system.) Though the game was released in 2010, it is designed in a retro style. Its graphics and gameplay are very simple with low-resolution (320x240) graphics and a three-button movement interface reminiscent of 1980s-era games.

The principal mechanic of the game is gravity flipping. The player is not able to jump. Instead, they can flip gravity and fall upward to the ceiling (or downward to the floor if they are already on the ceiling). VVVVVV's level design explores this simple mechanic, presenting the player with novel challenges and puzzles throughout the game. The sequences and puzzles in VVVVVV are very difficult, but the player is not penalized much for dying as they instantly restart at a nearby checkpoint. The game has an open world design, meaning the players don't have to do most of the levels in any order. They are free to roam around the game until they find a level they would like to explore.

VVVVVVs soundtrack features over 30 minutes of original chiptunes by Magnus Pålsson. The songs sound perfectly in place in the retro enviroment of the game. The soundtrack has been released on its own as PPPPPP.

Response to VVVVVV has been very positive, earning 8/10 from Edge Magazine, Gamerlimit.com and GamesRadar. PC Gamer UK called it "An indie platform game with endearing retro looks, style, sophistication, and a sadistic streak", while Total PC Gaming says it "expertly treads the thin line between frustration and satisfaction".
