Minecraft is a sandbox/survival/RPG game where you, in survival mode, spawn in a unique world that will expand forever more as you explore. I generated a world and found this beast staring at me. Unfortunately the landscape was a big melting pot of dirt, sand, and gravel. Deleted it.

Then I found a huge cave on one of my worlds. There was a dungeon at level 11. Since dungeons have better loot the further down, I was excited. Then I saw this.

Someone pointed out to me that most of my blog updates recently were about how I had no time to develop. I thought about it, and realized that I only feel like I have the time to blog when I’m being prevented from doing actual development. So I guess in one sense, the recent lull in updates can be seen as a good thing. Hopefully it doesn’t mean I’ve grown tired of blogging..

I’ve been able to focus on development a lot the last couple of weeks, and we’re hoping to get the new update out soon. It will include the wolves, the ability to change your spawn point, and a rather ambitious statistics tracking and achievement system. Once that update is out, we’ll spend some time figuring out exactly what to do with the modding, which should result in a nice modding API.

Other cool news is that work has started on the mobile version of Minecraft, we landed a merchandise deal with J!NX (pardon the plug), the guys working on Scrolls decided to use Scrum with internal demos each Tuesday, the office renovations are almost complete, and 2 Player Productions reached their goal on kickstarter to make a full-length movie about Mojang! Amazingly, they’re the third highest funded project on kickstarter!

What does this mean? First of all, I was wrong when I predicted the update would be today. All that work coordinating dates and patterns gone to waste.... Though, Notch confirmed all the stuff to be in the update, and that a mobile version of Minecraft is going to be released! I'm assuming it will be on the PSP since that's the only handheld gaming device that has anywhere near enough memory for Minecraft.

Also, I added a new poll. It seems to be more interesting than any other I've added here.
Oddly, "More underwater content" seems to be least favorite ... by far!

I have been playing minecraft more and more often. I like the game.

However, the multiplayer is confusing, I have downloaded the minecraft_server app, and java app, but when I run them, the only thing I get is an "IRC" box.

I am trying to host a lan server.

Hosting is tricky. I recommend just trying out as many tutorials as possible. But hey, if you do manage to host, give us the IP

I looked a couple up, but they all seem so long and boring.

Plus, hosting takes a lot of ram, and I can't quite figure out how to run Java functions yet.

Yeah, hosting a simple Minecraft server seems to take up way more memory than you'd think is necessary.

I have made my own ship! I call it the SS Pinewood.

It is a total of twenty-three meters long, twelve meters tall, and eleven meters wide. Took twelve stacks of wood, thirty torches, forty cobblestone, four glass, and tons of fences and ladders! Overall the build consumed around two hours of my time. But it is well worth it!
EDIT: And I had to replant my ENTIRE tree farm!
